P.P. Arnold - Everything's Gonna Be Alright

Welcome to the club. The place to meet THE faces, hear THE tunes and read THE stories behind the "Sound Of Soul" in the UK. And that's our manifesto here at Club Soul. To trace the evolution of the rare soul scene in the UK through Britain's clubland. A scene that would become known as Northern Soul, a scene fuelled on rare Black American 45's, a scene fuelled on one-upmanship.

P. P. Arnold (Patricia Ann Cole) was born in Los Angeles in 1946 and has enjoyed a long career in the music industry, establishing herself as an icon of the British MOD and Northern Soul scene. It all began in 1964 when she joined the Ike & Tina Turner Revue as an Ikette and found herself in swinging London at the height of the Mod/Psych boom. It was Mick Jagger who helped her score a recording contract with the fledgling Immediate record label and also produced her duet with Rod Stewart on the storming Mod anthem 'Come Home Baby', but it was her Top 20 hit 'The First Cut Is The Deepest' that propelled her into the spotlight, a song written and sold to her for just £30 by Cat Stevens!

Club Soul are proud to showcase her 1967 Northern Soul classic 'Everything's Gonna Be Alright' co-written by label owner Andrew Loog Oldham and the Steve Marriott / Ronnie Lane song '(If You Think You're) Groovy'.

Club Soul will present this official vinyl reissue on replica Immediate labels as a 7 inch vinyl single, with new-to-vinyl double A-side coupling and cut pure analogue from the original Immediate Records master tapes.
